Until now, I still remember the book “Ang AWit ng Ibon”, by Anthony Mello, SJ. (I hope I got the correct name of the author). It was a gift to me by Father Gito, our School Director in San Sebastian School during my first year of teaching in SSS. After three days, the book was lost and didn’t read all the contents. What I can remember so well was the title of the book. I always try to find the book everytime I go to the bookstores, but to no avail.

Sometimes we let people go … Find their place and go with their life. Their choice. Learn to cherish the moment while it is still there. Everything in this world is temporary. People come and go. What is important is we have been true to ourselves when we were still together.
We don’t set criteria when we love somebody.

Choose the mountain you wish to climb. Don’t be influenced by what other people say:’ that one’s prettier’ or ‘that one easier’. You are going to put a lot of energy and enthusiasm into achieving your objective, and you are the only person responsible for your choice, so be quite sure what you are doing.
Find out how to reach the mountain. Often you can see the mountain in the distance-beautiful, interesting, full of challenges. However, when you try to reach it, what happens? It’s surrounded by roads, forests lie between you and your objective; and what seems clear on the map is far more complicated in reality. So you must try all the paths and tracks until, one day, you’ll find yourself before the peak you intend to climb.
Learn from someone who has been there before. However unique you may think you are, there is always someone who has had the same dream before, and who will have left signs behind that will make the climb less arduous: the best place to attach a rope, trodden paths, branches broken off to make it easier to pass. It is your climb and it is your responsibility too, but never forget that other people’s experiences are always welcome.

I often smile to everyone. Some say that I got a patented smile. Wearing smile serves as my everyday greeting to everyone. In my class, I often smile before i got embarrassed with my students. I converse my colleagues, friends and acquaintances with smile. Smiling makes my day, it ease my tension, gets away my stresses. Smile costs nothing. It is not a reflection of how we feel ourselves, but of our attitude towards others. Try a smile today. Smile the while, then others smile. And soon there will be miles of miles of smiles… because we smile.
I realized one day that sometimes, I should not smile. For there are some who don’t deserve it.

There is a time for everything. Things happen for a reason. Our existence is a great reason to celebrate life.
I remember birthdays of my parents, brothers and sisters and friends for it give me simple message to celebrate. I thought of their natal day as a great blessing to me for God give me wonderful parents, brothers and sisters though sometimes we have odds.
I have three closest male friends- Randy, Ederick and Jojo. Now, another added in the list, and it is his birthday today. We shared joys and bitter days, ups and down but never give up to tests of times.
Today, another day to be happy for there is an additional year to a friend dear to me. A friend who become an inward eye of my solitude. Great things come unexpectedly, only we have to cherish these things while still there.
Thank you for the gift of friendship.

Intramurals 2008, I enganged myself in watching almost all the events, from day one up to the last day. I feel I have to watch to give moral support to our players. I particularly indulged in volleyball men, the great game if only being watched by all. It was the battle between Unit V1(BA) and Unit 1(CED). It was a match game, tough game, exciting game. The first two innings went to unit 1 and before the third game was played, it rained. It should have been the play for Unit 1 but unfortunately was a game for Unit V1. Then the next two games unexpectedly went to them. Almost the same scores, one running after the other. Almost 10 times that scores tied. It was a great game. All players did their best but one team should win. It was a game as if it were the battle for championship for it was the most watched, most cheered.
Unit V1 made it.
This afternoon I learned that the libero of Unit V1 died of dengue. I don’t personally know him but I was saddened. I thought of the guy who played maybe his last game, and go now to his final destination.
Now, I know why they won the game.

The complete Paulo Coelho books is 13. But I read only half of it, the last one is “Like The Flowing River”, it contains his thoughts and reflections from the different books he wrote. Manuel Bandeira wrote the epilogue.
Be like the flowing river, Silent in the night. Be not afraid of the dark. If there are stars in the sky, Remember clouds like the river, are water. So gladly reflect them too, In your own tranquil depths.
I began to like Coelho’s novels for they are inspiring. Izza, my closest girl friend read Coelho’s too. I don’t know if she read all of his books. I miss her whenever I read Coelho’s book, misses her philosophical insights and taste of literature. Misses her intellectual prowess and “katarayan’ too. We shared the same interest in literature but maybe not to some.
I should be there. Thanks to Coelho.
