I am writing for many reasons. Foremost, I would like to thank you for the opportunity you have given me to serve your administration as Dean of the College of Education for 2 years.  During my stint, I can say that I did my best being true  to your vision as a pro active partner in making CLSU even greater.  I was impressed when I interviewed you as one of the presidentiables in the University for I saw in you a leader who will not listen to hearsays and gossips but to what is real. I see transaparency in your vision, I see great CLSU in your  4 year development plan. However, my leadership in the college is not enough for running the college is like ” running a college with has always a shadow that keep on following you”

It was actually not an open letter, for I believe that open letter is for everybody. It was intended for the President as promised to him during our conversation. However, I was thinking to furnish the concerns. I was thinking to give copies to the Vice Presidents, Deans and President of Faculty Association.  One letter was out but still unsigned, I have edited the letter. The one copy out created big impact to the community. They talked about that, they want to know the contents.. they want to know the truth.

The echoes remind us always to connect ourselves with the good or bad things that we do in our everyday encounter. For me, what keeps reverberating in my self were good things and memories I had with the people I go with, relate with and loved. The echoes linger in our being, serve as our reminder of good things, of special memories and of special persons. I will keep that echo in my being.

Had a chance to narrate the story behind the splendid performance of TAGACLSU last February 10. The song was dedicated to my mother and to all mothers who have been the inspiration of all to attain greater heights. Thanks Istine for believing in my story and my family.

It is a part of human nature always to judge others very severely and, when the wind turns against us, always to find excuse for our own misdeeds, or to blame someone else for our mistakes.

Tomorrow marks IMPACT’s 21st anniversary. I have been a member of this organization since I was in first year college. I became Vice President for External Affairs then President of this community oriented student organization. I saw how the organization rise and rise and was a part of its greatest glory, being THE HALL OF FAME for more than 13 years. The organization has been true to its trilogy of SERVICE, DEDICATION and EXCELLENCE. We have transformed the lives of the people in the communities through our various community service activities. As we transform the lives of the people in the community, we are also transforming ourselves. Personally, I have redefined the word “activitism”, that the word now for means being active in community services. That the true people are people with low origin, the marginalized.  I learned a lot in the organization, what I am today, a great part of it are my learnings in the org.

This 21st anniversary, we bow to continue our mission of helping the communities, by being great through upholding the tradition of excellence and service to the community. There are of reasons to celebrate, and there are also a lot of things to do.

I am greatly honored to be one of IMPACT members. I believe that in every individual, there is IMPACT in him.

Semestral break is one of the most awaited moments of the students, to recharge they say. To some, its a time for a vacation, spending time with friends and family, momentarily forgetting the stuffs of the school.

For us, teachers this is supposed to be the time to relax and take a breathe after a semester’s work. But this year, seems no break for us, for me. After the final exams, checking of papers, projects, portfolios ect., computation of grades plus a number of school activities and official businesses.  Then enrolment again, then school days again. Whew!

I will find time to go home tomorrow and spend a night or two in our house. I will pay respects to my relatives who have gone away, and attend to our family’s annual “padasal”. I will spend the short time of this break to my mother and siblings.

Hope that the very short break will always bring back in me my enthusiasm in teaching and in my doing my work’s assignments.
